Cocoa Research Co-Operative Credit Union Branch Opens in Koforidua

The Cocoa Research Co-operative Credit Union Limited (CRCCU) at New Tafo-Akim launched its 3rd Branch at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Board Chairman Dr. George Akumfi Ameyaw said the branch in the regional capital (Koforidua) would strengthen the mission to be the optimum Co-operative Credit Union in the Eastern Region and counted among the best in the country.

He recounted the history of CRCCU and said the first was established in 1972 at New Tafo-Akim and the dint of diligence, a second branch was opened in Bunso.

He added that the membership of the union increased from 2062 to 2211 at the beginning of the 2022 financial year.

Dr. Richard Adu Acheampong, the Deputy Executive Director of Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) in charge of Cocoa & Kola delivering a speech on behalf of the Executive Director of CRIG congratulated the CRCCU for raising its branch level to three and growing from strength to strength.

 He charged the union not to be complacent, but to continue to work hard and keep in mind their core values of credibility, resourcefulness, creativity, care for members, and unity.

The Regional Director of the Department of Co-operative, Mr. Bismark Adusei stated that the union has been in good standing for the past 50 years and achieved many successes.

Mr. Adusei stressed that the Cocoa Research Cooperative Credit Union is the preferred model of excellence for Credit Unions in the Eastern Region.
